Chinatown Fieldtrip

There are still spots available. The trip will take place this Friday October 20, 2006. If you are still interested in going please contact Theresa Castor or Wendy Leeds-Hurwitz.

Evening with the Faculty

November 11, 2006 is the day that we have set up for PAC, LPH and Communication faculty to engage in dinner at 7:30p.m. If you are a Communication major, minor, or considering either of the two, you are welcomed to join us. PAC and LPH will be providing the room which will be in the Chancery Restaurant at the Radisson Hotel in Pleasant Prairie. We ask that all students and faculty who are thinking on coming please bring your own money for dinner; the clubs will pay for the room but not the food. Jamie is preparing a flyer.

Campus visitor

Lana Rakaw, a professor who used to teach in this department, but who is now at the University of North Dakota, will be coming to UW-Parkside as part of a 5-year review of the department. She will be available at 3:30p.m. on Nov. 9 for those student who would like to express their feelings and views of the department. She will also be joining us for the dinner on Nov. 11.

Admirals Game

Potential dates for a trip to see the Admirals play hockey (joint with PAC) are the following: January 20, 27, 31, at 7:30p.m. and on February 10, at 1:30p.m. The opposing team that they would be playing would be San Antonio. The cost of this event would be $17.00 a person if someone picks up the tickets in Milwaukee. Cassia will send out an email to members of LPH to see which date works best for the most people; Jamie or Brendan can do the same with PAC.

Bulletin Board

Make sure to remember to bring your wallet-size pictures of yourself so that they can go on our board. Please do this for the next meeting. We plan to start to put our board together.

Service Ideas

For those who are looking to receive a service cord for graduation here are some ideas: Make a Difference Day. This event is taking place this Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 9:00a.m. Until 4:00p.m. The YMCA Ophelia project is taking place this weekend and next weekend from 6:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. They are putting on a haunted house and need volunteers to help out with it. Another idea was a Milwaukee Public Television phone pledge-a-thon, which PAC has done for several years.

In order for any of these service projects to count, you need to fill out the volunteer form which is on the club website (under “service”) and have the organization representative or someone who works at your site to sign it for you, as well as one of the LPH officers. To earn the right to wear the red and white service cord at graduation, members need to do 10 hours of service per year they are a member of the club (even if they are actually only a member for 1 semester of a year).
