Electing Officers

We voted on LPH officers. The new President this year is Ka Her; the Vice President is Kate Bieringer; the Secretary is Jenny Bremberger; the treasurer is Bekah Garcia.

LPH Fees

Remember that fees for all LPH members are due October 18th. Dues for returning members are $15, and dues for new members are $35. If you are graduating this semester, you can purchase a gold cord for $8. Checks should be made out to UWP. You can drop off checks in Wendy’s office (CA 245).

Meeting Times

A Meeting time was established for 11:00 on Fridays every other week in CA 233. The next meeting will be Friday, October 15th in CA 279, because we want to finish deciding on activities for the semester.

Service Cords

LPH will be giving out red and white Service Cords for graduation. If you are interested in obtaining a Service Cord, you must complete 10 hours of service per academic year that you are a member of LPH. Graduating seniors can still do their 10 hours of service for graduation in December. Service hours do not include service done for a class requirement. Receiving a service cord looks great on a resume! Forms for documentation are on the LPH website.

Possible Workshops this Semester

The group talked about possible workshops to have this semester. Some possibilities include workshops on Excel, resume writing, how to read the new DARS reports, and having someone from a Human Resources department come to speak about the interviewing process.

Possible Field Trips and Other Activities

LPH has field trips usually once a semester. The group talked about possible ideas for field trips this fall. Some ideas include going to Chicago to the National Communication Association convention on November 11th or going to the theatre in Milwaukee to see a play. LPH may also co-sponsor an alumni dinner with PAC (Parkside Association of Communicators). A bake sale may also be held at the end of October to raise funds to reduce the cost of a fieldtrip. If you have any other ideas, please come to the next meeting and share them with us.
