Next meeting

The next LPH meeting will be on Friday, November 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. The room assignment will be emailed to everyone. We decided to have a meeting next week, because the following week is Thanksgiving.

Treasures for Troops

Flyers about Treasures for Troops are in circulation around campus (extras are available on Wendy Leeds-Hurwitz’s door, CA 245 if anyone wants some to share). It would also be helpful for members to make announcements in their classes so that we can get donations. The drop off boxes for donations are in the PSGA office across from Wyllie Market. Mailboxes Etc. has decided to donate all of the packing supplies and actually do the packing for free. They will only charge LPH the cost price for delivery. Hostess will also be donating 150 crates of Twinkies, which Jessie will pick up. Jessie has also collected $61 to go toward the shipping fees. Her church has already made a number of donations

Coffee Break

Ka has contacted Gary Wood who will be donating money for the coffee break on behalf of a campus-wide honors society. Jay McRoy, advisor for the English honor society, is also considering co-sponsoring with LPH. We can get a ½ sheet of snacks (enough for about 50 people) with lemon bars and brownies for $20. Besides offering coffee, LPH would like to offer lemonade or some other kind of juice to go along with the snacks. We can get juices for $8.50 per gallon.

Workshop Reminders

Next Wednesday, November 17th at 12:00 in COMM 233, Joanna Goodyear will be holding a workshop on resume writing. On Friday, December 3rd, there will be a PowerPoint workshop in the library’s PC classroom.

Field Trip

So far six people have shown an interest in going to see Cabaret at the Skylight Opera. The dates and times that they have said would work best for them are Saturday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 5th at 2:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. If you are interested, please let Wendy know which date and time works best for you. We are also still trying to decide if people want to go to dinner before one of the later shows, or if we want to go shopping or to the Advertising Museum after a matinee.
