MEETING MINUTES 2.04.04

I. Introduction
§ All officers (and adviser) introduced themselves to new and past members. Kate is planning to do an outreach for new members, (to notify them of the meetings).
§ All new/current member fees are due by February 20, 2004

II. Workshops
§ Members stated that the E-folio workshop had a good turnout and that it should be presented this semester. Majority voted that it should be held on the last day of classes instead of during finals.
§ The internship workshop given by students as well as Prof. Theresa Castor should be held again due to high interest. It will take place at the end of the semester, and officers will talk to Theresa Castor about the Fall 2003 interns.
§ Other great ideas that are possible for future workshops are: resume writing, video editing, how to prepare for Grad School, and how to find a job after college.

III. Possible Spring Field Trip(s)
§ Milwaukee (ComedySportz, Ice Skating)
§ Chicago (museums & etc)
§ Madison (state street & etc)
§ Any other ideas or suggestions, contact one of the officers or our advisor, Wendy.

IV. Community Service
§ All members remember to complete their 10 hours minimum of service by September 2004. Note: If this is your first semester with LPH but last semester of college, you must complete the 10 hours before graduation to earn a red and white cord at graduation.
§ Possible community service opportunity for the group is WoMen and Children's Horizons, TBA.
§ Kate Bieringer, Megan Garca, Ka Her, Luke Andersen, Ray Swanson, and Kathryn Seamans earned Red & White cords last fall; Gaca, Andersen, Swanson received and wore theirs at graduation.
§ Members can retrieve a service card from the LPH website.

V. Possible Fundraiser(s) or Socials
§ Valentine's Bake Sale, if it isn't too late to reserve for next week. Further info will be posted or sent via e-mail.
§ Pie Throwing contest for St. Patrick's Day. Date: TBA
§ Easter Bake Sale in April
§ Got ideas? Send them to Wendy or come to the next meeting

VI. Announcements
§ New member initiation will be on Sunday, April 25, 2004, at 1 pm in the Union Square. It'll be a part of the Spring Student Celebration with the Communication Department. More info will be given at a later date.
§ bell hooks will be speaking at UW-Milwaukee, next Tuesday, February 10, 2004; the cost of the bus/ticket is paid for by the Dean. Bus is leaving at 5pm, for more info, contact Fay Akindes at akindes@uwp.edu
§ Deadline passed for the Steven A. Smith award for student papers; we can try for it next year.
§ UW-Parkside is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Tuesday, February 10, 2004, from 9am-2pm. Location: Union Conference Rooms 104 & 106.
