Meeting Minutes

LPH Dues

All LPH joining or continuing members must have their money in by October 14, 2005. New members pay $35 for the year; returning members pay $15 for the year.

LPH Merchandise Opportunity

We will soon have the ability to purchase LPH merchandise from our National chapter. During our first meeting, the members who attended picked their top five favorite items that can be considered for purchase.

Elections

Melissa Wheeler was elected Treasurer, and Trisha Burns was elected Sectretary.

Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser

LPH is planning to hold a fundraiser to aid in the relief efforts for the Hurricane Katrina Disaster. We will be joining up with the Parkside Association of Communicators (PAC) to plan our events. Our plan is to connect with a school somewhere in the south (probably Houston) and have drives for backpack and school supplies, and/or supplies for babies (diapers, baby wipes, baby food), and/or supplies for individuals who have been relocated to WI (winter clothes in usable condition).

LPH also may connect with some local taverns to promote our fundraisers and work with the taverns to collect donations.

Workshops

Below are some of the workshop suggestions made by LPH members:

Resume Workshop (Wendy to organize)
Excel Workshop (Melissa to organize)
Graduate School Workshop focusing on graduate work in Communication (that the Career Center doesn't go over) (Wendy to organize)

Any other suggestions can be made at the next meeting.

LPH Event Suggestions

Every semester LPH members plan an outing. These were some of the suggestions made:

Chicago
  - Museum of Broadcasting
  - Art Institute (Tues. Free?)
  - Theatre, dinner, shopping
  - Wicked - Jill to get information

Any other suggested destinations can be made at next meeting.

Meeting Time

Wednesday 12pm is convenient for all who were present; no other good times had been proposed by those who did not come, so we'll keep this as the regular time. Meetings will be in either CA 233 or 279 as available.
