About UW-Parkside

A Commitment to the Community

The Center for Community Partnerships (CCP) connects the resources of the university with the needs of southeastern Wisconsin. As the university's front door for community engagement, the focus is on mobilizing the talent of students, faculty and staff in three key areas:

Community Development and Dialogues
Community agencies, faith groups, organizations, prisons, schools, etc., have an opportunity to engage in dialogue as a means to address critical and challenging social issues. The mission is to foster understanding, action, and change through community dialogue. Diversity Circles, and Mentor Racine and Kenosha are two of the valued community connections.

Community-Based Scholarship and Nonprofit Development
A variety of activities promote community development including course-based projects for organizations, direct consultation with regional nonprofits, community research assistance, and professional development for faculty, staff, students, and community partners.

Professional and Continuing Education
Quality educational experiences raise awareness and increase the knowledge base of professionals in southeastern Wisconsin. Continuing Education is a branch of UW-Extension's Outreach and E-Learning, which is committed to lifelong learning through innovative programs and services. K-12 Education Outreach & License Renewal Support Center provides research-based strategies and best practices to strengthen teaching and improve student achievement in southeastern Wisconsin. Environmental Centers in Racine and Kenosha increase and improve environmental education opportunities available to the general public, and PK-16 educators and students. The environmental learning centers support interdisciplinary environmental research opportunities, and build awareness and appreciation for the Great Lakes ecosystem and connected watersheds.

The Center for Community Partnerships is home to Adventures in Lifelong Learning, an association of seniors from southeastern Wisconsin sponsored by the university and committed to reaching out to older learners and providing educational, creative, and social opportunities.
