"I was an average student in high school. I had a lot of energy but lacked direction. My first year at Parkside I kept a low profile, did my homework and tried to figure out where I fit in. Sophomore year I got a little gutsy. OMSA (Office of Multicultural Student Affairs) introduced me to a variety of programs to be involved in. I joined Latinos Unidos and became a student mentor. Later, I took advantage of other Parkside learning experiences, such as Summer Orientation Leader, Marketing Intern for ClearChannel radio, and PSGA lobbyist for education funding in Washington, D.C. If it weren't for the Parkside staff who literally dropped everything they were doing when I knocked on their door, none of this would have been possible."
