"The students' relationship with professors is one of UW-Parkside's best characteristics that I truly enjoy."
When Lalo Cabiró went looking for an affordable university, one close to home, one with highly respected programs in computer science and mathematics, he found a good fit at UW-Parkside. The faculty, he says, makes the experience even better.
"The professors care about each student's performance," Lalo says. "I've found professors eager to help satisfy my academic curiosity beyond the content of the materials."
Like many students, Lalo is deeply involved academically and socially-sometimes both at the same time.
"I tutor math and computer science at UW-Parkside's Tutoring Center. I've competed in regional programming competitions representing UW-Parkside. I belong to the Guitar Club; my focus is the fusion of Flamenco, Gypsy, and Rumba sounds and rhythmic styles," he says. "And I had the opportunity to perform during UW-Parkside's International Worldfest Dinner!"
Lalo likes UW-Parkside's cultural diversity. "It's a great learning experience to meet people from different parts of the world," he says. "For somebody in the Racine- Kenosha area, UW-Parkside is conveniently close to home and offers a wide variety of high-quality academic programs."
