The perfect fit. Karisa Laskowski found it at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

"UW-Parkside offered the exact major I was looking for and also gave me an opportunity to play for the women's basketball team. It seemed like the perfect fit at the time," she says, "and it has continued to be throughout my four years here."

Karisa says her professors have gone, "above and beyond to help me attain my goals and get the most out of my four years at UW-Parkside." She emphasizes the value of the internships, research presentations, and networking opportunities available in her major.

In addition to playing basketball, she is involved in campus activities serving as a Peer Health Educator, as president of the Sport & Fitness Management Club, and gaining membership in the Phi Eta Sigma Academic Honor Society. She also gained experience as a research assistant in the biomechanics laboratory.

Karisa tells prospective UW-Parkside students to research the major they intend to pursue, see the campus, and reach out to professors. "Visit the campus and see what it has to offer," she says. "This will give you a great feel for what your experience here will be like, and an opportunity to ask the right people any questions you may have."
