It was athletics that attracted Kiah Simon to UW-Parkside: "Division II is the perfect balance from a sports and academic perspective," she says. It was the campus and the people who made her want to stay.
"The campus is beautiful, the people are welcoming, and the admission's counselors are helpful from the day you visit to the day you graduate!" Kiah says.
Since her arrival on campus, UW-Parkside's women's basketball team has three NCAA post-season appearances, reaching the Sweet 16 twice. While the sports experience has been awesome, the classroom has been just as amazing.
"I enjoy the small classrooms where I can get to know the students and professors in my major," Kiah says. "I have never felt like a number; all my professors know my name and are actively helping me reach my goals."
Kiah has taken the initiative to get everything possible out of the university experience. She's worked as marketing coordinator for the UW-Parkside Activities Board, as a Campus Ambassador, and with the Communication Honor Society. She also served as a global compensation intern with a major local employer.
"The opportunities to get involved with different organizations, teams, jobs and activities are everywhere," Kiah says. "If you put yourself out there, you will enjoy every minute of it!"
