| 12:00 PM | 5:00 PM | Exhibition: The Art of Jelena Berenc |
| Com. Arts Gallery | ||
| According to Jelena Berenc: One is as much as one studies itself. One is as much as one is fully aware of one’s existential experiences. One is as much as one understands oneself. One is as much as one is. They am I. Who I am is what they are. Self-of-others. Other self is other selves. Being is a continuous state of passing. Jelena says her artwork is based on durational, repetitional, excessive, and endurance drawings. “This somewhat compulsive obsessiveness of excessive drawing of quantities or gestures becomes a document of time and the drawing’s creation; it becomes a document of experience itself. When so constructed, the act of drawing allows me to re-experience existence, but in a slower and fully conscious way, so that perceptions become apperceptions.” | ||

| 7:30 PM | 9:00 PM | Arts Alive! presents The Second City: 50th Anniversary Tour |
| Communication Arts Theatre | ||
| The UW-Parkside Arts Alive! series brings America’s favorite house of comedy, The Second City, to campus. Celebrating a half century of uproarious laughter, this 50th Anniversary show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Communication Arts Theatre. Started as a small cabaret theatre on Chicago's north side in 1959, The Second City has grown to become a comedy empire. Its theatres in Chicago and Toronto are legendary for hilarious cutting-edge improvisation-based comedy and for launching the careers of dozens of stars. During the past five decades, some of America's best and brightest comic stars have been citizens of The Second City. From legendary alumni like Academy Award-winner Alan Arkin and Joan Rivers, to John Belushi, John Candy, and Bill Murray; from Mike Myers, Chris Farley, and Tim Meadows, to Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, and Tina Fey, The Second City lineage runs through the talented comics who will make us laugh Nov. 23. This Arts Alive! performance takes place just weeks before the big Second City alumni reunion in Chicago. It’s the comedy event 50 years in the making. Don’t miss the Arts Alive! performance of The Second City Monday, Nov. 23 at UW-Parkside. Tickets for The Second City are just $20 (you’d pay more than that just for parking if you went to see them in Chicago) and can be purchased online at www.uwp.edu keyword tickets or by calling 262-595-2307. | ||
