In the Fall of 1994, UW-Parkside was invited to join the National Communication Honor Society for undergraduates, Lambda Pi Eta. The faculty decided it was a good opportunity for the students and initiated creating the campus chapter. Dr. Wendy Leeds-Hurwitz and Dr. Jonathan Shailor became co-advisors for the Gamma Pi Chapter of LPH. Since then, Dr. Megan Mullen has also served as advisor. This year, Dr. Leeds-Hurwitz is the advisor. In different semesters, the club has had different emphases, depending on student interest. Generally, LPH has offered workshops, taken a fieldtrip, and/or done a service project. Each spring, LPH holds an initiation for new members, at which time they are given their certificates and pins. At graduation, LPH members are eligible to wear gold cords.
