Everlastin' Epsilon Chapter History

In the Fall of 1997, a group of 12 women at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside originally set forth to find an established organization on campus that would serve as a support system among women of Latino heritage in higher education and allow them to leave a legacy for those who would follow. The fact that there were no Latina-based sororities in Wisconsin at this time served as a source of motivation for them.

The group researched numerous greek-lettered organizations carefully and soon narrowed their choice down to Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. for these reasons: the Latina-based organization was young enough where this group could contribute greatly to it's growth, it focused on the importance of community service, the communication with the National Expansion Director was such that the group felt satisfactorily informed and...an instinctive feeling that this was the right choice.

In November of 1997, the interest group received word that they had officially been accepted as the UW-Parkside Petitioning Group of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc., thus, becoming the FIRST Latina-based Sorority established on campus and in Wisconsin. Let it be known that there were others that tried to bring other sororities to Wisconsin in the past but we were the first Established Latina-based sorority in Wisconsin that survived and didn't die out.

On April 24, 1998, The Epsilon Charter at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside was born and officially recognized as a Charter of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority. The two determined women left from what was once twelve, had completed the initiation process and accomplished their dream. Hermana Erica "Payasa" Davalos and Hermana Tanya "Muneca" Skiba~Demairas are respectively recognized as Epsilon Chapter Founding Mothers.

The second step was to extend their family, so on September 30th, 1998 at approximately 11:15 am Hermana Jessica "Alma" Malacara~Bernal and Hermana Gabriela "Chispas" Anaya were welcomed into Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority Epsilon Charter as Epsilon Charters. It was two days later on October 2nd, 1998 that these ladies traveled to Phoenix, Arizona gained Chapter Status and officially Founded what is now known as the Everlastin' Epsilon Chapter of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc.

The seed had been planted and now it would grow...
