GAMMA ALPHA OMEGA SORORITY, INC.
NATIONAL HISTORY

Most Honorable Founding Mothers: Michelle Seanez, Amy Alavrez, Patsy
Guardado, and Clara Lopez. Honorable Hermanas: Annette
Escalante, Valerie Mendoza, Roxana Quinones and Sandra Seanz

In search of finding a sorority that would encompass the importance of giving back to their community, while pursing their educational goals and strengthening their sisterly bonds, five determined collegiate women began their journey to establish a sisterhood that would implement this as their foundation and purpose of their organization. Today we know them as our Most
Honorable Founding Mothers.

These women saw the need and had the desire to serve the Hispanic community as they continue their quest for higher learning for women on their campus. With that in mind, Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc., was the first Hispanic Sorority founded on the campus of Arizona State University, located in Tempe, Arizona, on January 25, 1993.

A community service based sorority, their focus was not only on social issues, as many traditional sororities established before them, but their desire to advance women, to have them excel in school, motivate others, generate role models, and eventually empower Hispanic Women community leaders. Along side our Most Honorable Founding Madres are the Founding Charters that set the stage for our legacy.
