Esther served as the Assistant Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences from 1996-2012 before the reorganization of the Colleges in July 2012. She now serves as Assistant Dean to both the College of Arts and Humanities and the College of Natural and Health Sciences.

In 1982, she was hired to teach at UW-Parkside right out of graduate school and has been here ever since. Even after joining the administration as Assistant Dean in 1996, she has continued to teach at least one freshman biology lab every semester. She was the recipient of the Stella Gray Teaching Excellence Award from UW-Parkside in 1986 and a 1993 UW-System Regent's Award for Excellence in Teaching. She has played french horn in the UW-Parkside Community Band since 1990.
