James McPhaul is the director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He is responsible for managing Parkside’s community engagement initiatives in entrepreneurship, along with programs in business counseling and training. Jim has over 30 years of banking experience in Wisconsin and has been with Bank of Kenosha since 2001 as the Senior Vice President in charge of Mortgage Lending and Marketing and as a member of the senior management team.
He began his career with ITT Finance as a management trainee, serving in many different supervisory roles. Jim has served as Branch Manager, District Manager, Project Manager and was the President and CEO of North Shore Gas Credit Union in Waukegan, IL. He has also performed in many sales and production capacities with North Shore Bank, First National Bank of Kenosha, and Chase Bank.
Mr. McPhaul holds an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and has earned his MBA from UW-Parkside. He is an Associate Lecturer for UW-Parkside teaching Entrepreneurship, Marketing Principles, Introduction to Business, and Selling of Financial Services. Mr. McPhaul has also taught Management classes at Cardinal Stritch University as well as many banking classes in Southeastern Wisconsin for the Center for Financial Training (formerly American Banking Association). Mr. McPhaul serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Bankers of Wisconsin, is the Past President of Kenosha Rotary Club, and Treasurer of the Spanish Center of Southeastern Wisconsin.
