In computer science (and particularly computer security), I spend a lot of time updating my notes to make learning easier for students, and also because technology is forever changing. I started my college career spending nights programming at the computer center, and I knew I truly loved it because my working hours were horrible.
In the next five years, I’d really like to work more with security, and learn more about energy efficiency, so that I can find a way to integrate this knowledge into computer architecture courses. I also would like to publish my Small Business Security Workbook to make it easier for small businesses to be secure and for the student to be security aware. Currently, I use active learning to help students learn by doing; I also do this with visual learning.
Someday I’d also really like to visit Asia. During the school year I don’t have much of a life outside of teaching. Fortunately, I really enjoy teaching and am always trying to keep my classes current. I do love the movie “Holes” by Walt Disney and I just hate football.
