Campus News Short Takes:

UW-Parkside Archivist Anna Stadickwas recently elected chair of the UW Records Officers Council (UW-ROC, pronounced "you rock") for 2012-2013. UW-ROC's members are the records officers of each UW System campus, plus a representative from UW-System's legal board, and the records officer of the UW colleges. "We write records schedules covering anything from residence hall records and student transcripts to faculty tenure files and the chancellor's historical correspondence. Some of these are schedules for state agencies that are, in general, adapted to our specific situations," Anna said. They also discuss matters of records preservation, electronic formats, access, public records laws, and similar matters. If you have questions about records or archives or you'd like to access university records in the archives, contact archives@uwp.edu or Stadick@uwp.edu by email. Anyone wishing to follow Archives' discoveries of the interesting, the inspiring, or the odd, should like them on Facebook, where they appear as University of Wisconsin-Parkside Archives and Area Research Center.

Take the survey: The university recently sent out surveys about the Panther Academic Success System (PASS) to faculty, staff, and advisors of first year students, as well as to students who received feedback through PASS this semester. If you received the email survey link, you are asked to invest the less than five minutes it will take to complete the survey and help improve the system. Done through Qualtrics, there are four different versions depending on the recipient--advisors, instructors who used PASS, instructors who did not use PASS, and students who received PASS feedback. The intended recipients each received an email directing them to the appropriate survey. So, check your email, find the survey, and please complete it.

UW-Parkside MIS major David Sieraski was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Wisconsin Chapter of the Society for Information (SIM). SIM is an association of senior IT executives, academicians, selected IT consultants, and other thought leaders that sponsors this competitive scholarship to recognize and support outstanding IT majors in Wisconsin. Sieraski is one of only three IT majors to receive a SIM scholarship this year from the Wisconsin SIM Chapter.

Joseph T. Cronin, a May 2012 graduate of UW-Parkside's MBA program, received the 2012 Racine Downtown Champion Award. The award is given to "an individual who has been a catalyst in improving downtown, has provided service to the downtown community, and has worked tirelessly to promote downtown.
