Stephen Hawk, Professor of Management Information Systems, is teaching a new course on information security as part of the consortium MBA program. He first taught it as an MBA course on campus a year ago, and it was well received by all business majors, particularly accountants and business management majors. Steve recently passed his Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) exam, a security certification offered by ISACA, an international professional association focused on IT Governance. A similar information security course offered to computing undergraduates and computer information systems (CIS) graduate students has led to students achieving ISACA certification: Toddy Burri passed the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) exam, while Paul Deleanu has passed the CISA exam. Development of theinformation security course was funded by a National Science Foundation CCLI grant awarded to Dr. Susan Lincke. The grant helped to train Dr. Hawk.UW-Parkside also offers its own cyber-security certificate for computing undergraduates and a security track for graduate CIS majors.
