"Greetings from Italy!"
An excited Chancellor Debbie Ford is leading a UW-Parkside/UW System delegation and more than a dozen students on a summer educational tour of Italy. Led by Associate Professor of Business Abey Kuruvilla, the "Doing Business in Italy" tour began Saturday, June 22, and continues through Sunday, July 7.
Chancellor Ford paused long enough on the tour to write:
"Our week in Italy has been filled with culture, conversations, learning, appreciation for our partnership with the University of Calabria, and exploration of new partnerships. Our delegation (Regent Mike Falbo, Sheila Falbo, Dr. Carmel Ruffolo, John Ford, and me) toured Rome, met with colleagues from the University of Calabria and the American University in Rome, and experienced the rich culture and heritage in Rome and Calabria. We celebrated the 10th anniversary of our partnership with UNICAL, talked about ways to enhance our collaborations, and visited with students. "As part of our visit, Senatore Turano (representing Italians in North and Central America in the Italian Senate) hosted us for a visit in the Senate Chamber and provided insights into Italian politics."Fourteen UW-Parkside students arrived in Calabria, Italy, on Sunday [June 23] and will visit Lecce, Rome, and Venice during their two week study abroad trip. We were all together on Tuesday to meet with the Rector of the University of Calabria, learn about business practices from the Cosenza Chamber of Commerce, and then visited Tropea and Pizzo. They will visit the Italian Senate and meet Senator Turano during their trip to Rome."
