Before serving as Associate Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rome was full professor in the department of criminal justice where he served as chair. He also served for over three years as chair of the University Committee (the University Committee serves as the executive committee of the faculty). He is a Fulbright and Carnegie Scholar and serves as Director of the Honors Program for the American Sociological Association. Dr. Rome earned his bachelor’s degree from Bradley University, a master’s degree from Howard University, and a PhD from Washington State University. He is well published and has served as a Public Member of the Special Committee on Expunction of Criminal Records for the state of Wisconsin (2006-7) and has been recently appointed to serve as a Public Member of the Special Committee on Criminal Justice Funding and Strategies 2010- ). In addition to his administrative duties Dr. Rome teaches one course per year; either Structural Violence, Crime & Human Rights, Criminology, Criminal Justice Research Methods, or Race, Crime and Law.
