*Courses indicated with an asterisk count for General Education credits in the Natural Sciences. A total of 24 BIOS Electives of 200 to 400 level BIOS courses, of which at least one class must include a laboratory and at least 3 credits must be from each of the four elective areas: Area I, Cell and Molecular Biology; Area II, Organismal Structure and Function; Area III, Biological Diversity; and Area IV, Population Biology. These BIOS Electives can be completed in any order. Because many of the BIOS Elective courses are 4 credits, the total number of required BIOS Elective courses may be fewer than indicated, depending on the number of 4-credit electives taken. Finally, additional credits (up to 8) may be needed to fulfill the University graduation requirement for a minimum of 120 credits.

The bachelor's degree at UW-Parkside is comprised of 120 credit hours which include the following:

  1. Reading/Writing, and Computational Skills (7 credits)
  2. UW-P Distribution Requirements - General Education 36 credits to include 12 credits each from Humanities and Fine Arts (HU), Social and Behavioral Science (SB) and Natural Science (NS)
  3. Foreign Language* and Diversity Requirements (DV) (3-11 credits)

*Foreign Language: It is assumed the student completed two years of the same foreign language in high school with a C or better average in the second year. Two semesters of the same foreign language at UW-P will be required if student did not complete requirement in high school.

  4. 36 credits are required at the 300 level or higher
  5. The English, math, foreign language competencies must be completed by 60 credits
  6. The information literacy requirement must be completed by 30 credits
  7. Any developmental courses (e.g., ACSK) or courses that are repeated more than once, do not count towards the 120 credit hours required for graduation and,
  8. All specific program major requirements as included in the above four year plan.
