University of Wisconsin- Parkside (UW-P) is excited to expand our Ranger Link Program thanks to the very generous gift of $50,000 from Mary Frost Ashley Charitable Trust!
Ranger Link aims to cultivate relationships between UW-P first-generation and minority students with on-campus programs, large companies, local small businesses, and non-profit organizations. Student exposure to various work environments and industries is a very important co-curricular experience.
Students can receive a stipend to be Ranger Linked!
Get connected to an employer and help complete a small project or internship!
Ranger Link Participants must be:
- 1st-Generation College Student* AND/ OR Minority Student
- Must be in Good Standing
- Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to apply
*1st Generation = College Student not having a parent who graduated from college with a baccalaureate degree
Benefits for Students:
- Learn about a career -"Try on" a career without the risk of long- term commitment
- Connect with employers - Excellent networking opportunities that may help in future competitive employment endeavors.
- Get prepared- Learn about workplace expectations and get your resume ready for employers.
- Earn while learning new skills - Earn a small stipend to complete a small project and learn about a career.
- Apply what you have learned in the classroom
Expectations:
- MUST have your resume
- Complete enrollment survey
- BEFORE experience, attend Orientation (with compensation) on  September 26  (Noon-1PM in the Student Center Cinema SCTR-D120) OR September 27 (5PM-6PM in the Student Center Hickory Room SCTR-121)
- Attend a Job Search Essentials Workshop
- AFTER experience, display and present supervised project at Ranger Link Showcase (with compensation) on December 8 & 9
- By end of semester, attend at least 1 session of “Job Search Essentials: Resumes, Cover Letters, Interviewing” hosted by the Academic Advising and Career Center, Wyllie D175
Stipend provided upon completion of all expectations as follows:
- Earn up to $800 upon completion (compensation commensurate upon length of internship)
- Attend mandatory Orientation session on September 26 OR September 27
- All projects must be completed between October 1- December 1
- All showcase projects must be presented on December 9
