Political science is the study of government and politics. Political science students study the origin, development, and operation of political systems and public policy. They conduct research on a wide range of subjects including relations between the United States and other countries, the institutions and political life of nations, the politics of small towns or a major metropolis, and the decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court. Political science professionals investigate public opinion, political decision-making, ideology, and public policy, they analyze the structure and operation of governments.
