Policies: Absenteeism

The Faculty of the Art Department has agreed upon the following policy as it pertains to class absences: As the Faculty of the Art Department values the learning experience in the classroom, regular attendance in class is absolutely mandatory. After two unexcused absences, a student’s grade will be lowered; if a student in a studio/digital art course misses a critique or major demonstration, that absence will be counted double. Missing over nine classes without legitimate excuses will result in course failure. Excused absences will be granted only with a valid and documented excuse. The instructor of the course has the final authority to determine the penalties for absences as it reflect a course’s distinct needs.
