"Although formally trained as a painter, I grew up in the back shop of a newspaper and was hand setting type by the time I was 12 and soon after composing ads for the family paper. Over the years I had the great fortune of experiencing the information revolution first-hand as the print industry moved from letterpress and the linotype, to offset press and photomechanical typesetting, to computer generated direct-to-plate print processes. All of these changes have left their impression on me and my work both as a designer and as an artist."
