Visa Benefits and Insurance
Visa Travel & Emergency Assistance
- Emergency Message Service – can record and relay emergency messages for travelers
- Medical Referral Services – provides medical referral, monitoring and follow-up
- Legal Referral Services – can arrange contact with attorneys and U.S. Embassies
- Emergency Transportation Assistance – can help make all arrangements for emergency transportation home or to the nearest medical facility
- Emergency Ticket Replacement – helps with the carrier’s lost ticket reimbursement procedures
- Lost Luggage Locator Service – can help through the common carrier’s claim procedures or can ship replacement items if common carrier loses the traveler’s checked baggage
- Emergency Translation Service – provides telephone assistance in all major languages and helps find local interpreters
- Prescription Assistance and Valuable Document Delivery Arrangements – can help get prescriptions filled or replaced. Can also help transport critical documents if left behind
- Pre-trip Assistance – can give information on the traveler’s destination before departure including ATM locations, currency exchange rates, weather reports, etc.
- Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver Program – provides coverage for damage due to collision or theft up to the actual cash value of most rental vehicles
- Traveler is eligible if he/she is the valid cardholder whose name is embossed on the Visa card
- The program is primary and reimburses the traveler for repair or replacement of the rental vehicle when it is in his/her possession and being used for business purposes
- Covered losses include:
- Physical damage and theft of the covered rental vehicle
- Valid loss-of-use charges imposed and substantiated by the rental agency through a fleet utilization log
- Reasonable and customary towing charges, due to a covered loss, to the nearest qualified repair facility.
Lost Luggage Insurance
- U.S. Bank will reimburse a cardholder for lost or damaged luggage if the common carrier’s payment for the loss or damage is less than the traveler’s claim
- U.S. Bank provides excess lost/damaged luggage coverage for both checked and carried-on articles when the traveler’s ticket is charged to a U.S. Bank purchasing or corporate card
- Reimbursement from U.S. Bank will be made only if the common carrier acknowledges the claim and makes a monetary reimbursement
- Travelers are eligible to receive excess reimbursement for the cost of replacement luggage and its contents up to the LESSER of:
- The amount paid to the traveler by the common carrier; or
- $1,250
- Total combined payment will not exceed the claim amount, or the amount paid by the common carrier
Common Carrier Travel Accident Insurance
- $500,000 insurance provided as long as the entire common carrier fare (i.e., airline ticket) was purchased on the state’s credit card.
- Insurance provided to the cardholder against an accident or injury that is the sole cause of loss of life, limb, sight, speech or hearing while riding as a passenger in, entering or exiting any common carrier
Visa Liability Insurance
- Protects the state against eligible losses that may be incurred through card misuse by a terminated employee
- Coverage up to $100,000 per cardholder if the agency/campus has five or more valid cardholders. Up to $5,000 per cardholder if the agency/campus has one to four valid cardholders
- Waivable Charges are incurred by the employee or other authorized person which:
- Do not benefit the state directly or indirectly
- Benefit the state directly or indirectly when the employee was reimbursed by the state for those charges and failed to pay the Bank
- Are the responsibility of the company and/or cardholder for payment to the Bank
- Charges may be:
- Billed up to 75 days before the Notification of Termination Date
- Incurred but unbilled as of the Notification of Termination Date
- Incurred up to 14 days after the Notification of Termination Date
- Cash Advances:
- Prior to the Notification of Termination Date, cash advances are considered waivable charges as defined
- After the Notification of Termination Date, cash advances are considered waivable charges as defined and limited to $300 per day or a maximum of $1,000.
