Area of Expertise: Professor Annie Li specializes in corporate governance and ownership structure in East Asia, international accounting and financial reporting issues. Her primary research interest focuses on examining the accounting quality of Hong Kong and Asian companies. Annie's research interest extends to institutional evolvement in China after 1978 and professional ethics in the U.S. and U.K.
Professional Activities: Prof. Li was a research fellow at the Center for Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University before joining UW. Annie's research has appeared in Journal of Business Ethics, Hong Kong Economic Journal and The Company Lawyer International. She has also produced a number of conference papers and was invited by Peking U, Lancaster U, USC Leventhal and SUNY to present her research topics. Her co-authored book on Corporate Governance in China: A Critical Analysis was widely cited by a good number of Asian financial media, professional journals and The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies. Prior to studying for her PhD, Annie worked in the Financial Advisory Services department and Auditing department of KPMG Peat Marwick. She also had two years' corporate finance experience with New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc., a NYSE listed educational company.
