Dr. Fred Ebeid named business school dean
The university has announced the appointment of Dr. Fred Ebeid as dean of the School of Business and Technology. Dr. Ebeid enters the office last held by Dr. Marwan Wafa, which has been ably administered on an interim basis by Business Professor Dr. Jay Sounderpandian during the 2005-2006 academic year.
Dr. Ebeid, (pronounced E-byed) who begins his appointment July 1, 2006, will join UW-Parkside from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill., where he serves as Dean of the College of Business and Technology. He is a long-time member of WIU's Marketing and Finance department faculty.
"[Dr. Ebeid] has a strong track record in leadership at the department and college level, as well as accomplishments as a teacher and scholar in his discipline," said Provost/Vice Chancellor Dr. Rebecca Martin. "His experience in working with advisory boards, fundraising, and generating relationships with the business community will help us move forward in these important areas."
Rebecca thanked Jay Sounderpandian for his leadership of the School of Business and Technology noting he will continue as interim dean until July 2006.
Dr. Ebeid's office will be located in Molinaro Hall.
At the culmination of the search, Sue Norton, thanked members of the search and screen committee "who devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy to this effort." They include Suresh Chalasani, Don Cress, Stu Hansen, Farida Khan, Susan Lincke-Salecker, Mike Manion, Cory Mason, Brad Piazza, Dennis Rome, Ben Stark, and Connie Wheeler. She also thanked Debby Dawdy for her clerical support.
"Their hard work is much, much appreciated," Sue added.
Search and screen committee member Farida Khan praised Sue for conducting "an extremely careful, well organized search" during which committee members were drawn to fully participate.
