UW-P student keeps SIM Scholarship in the family
UW-Parkside student second in family to win SIM Scholarship
For the second consecutive year, a University of Wisconsin-Parkside student received the scholarship awarded by the Wisconsin Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM Wisconsin). And for the second consecutive year, the student selected had the last name Museteif.
Recent graduate Sabha Museteif was
awarded the scholarship which is given to recognize
the most outstanding college student in the Greater Milwaukee area in the field
of Information Technology. Sabha's sister Gadeer Museteif, now a senior
at UW-Parkside, received the scholarship for the 2006-2007 academic year.
"There were many excellent candidates for this
year's awards, and the final selection process was difficult," SIM
Wisconsin President-elect Phil Zwieg said in an email to
Museteif. "After careful consideration by the review committee, it is
my pleasure to inform you that you have been awarded a $1,000 SIM Wisconsin
Scholarship."
Museteif
said at first she was concerned that the scholarship had been awarded to
someone else.
"When
I first opened the email from [Phil Zwieg] and he started off saying there were
many applicants, I didn't think I was the chosen recipient," she said. "But
as he went on to describe the scholarship, I was just thrilled to hear I got
it."
UW-Parkside
Business Department Chair Dirk Baldwin said Museteif's leadership along with
her academic strengths made her a strong candidate for the scholarship.
"Sabha
is a very strong leader and motivator of other students," Baldwin said. "She is a very active student and does
well in her classes."
Museteif graduated from UW-Parkside in May with degrees in business and management information systems. In addition to receiving academic honors, she was honored as one of the Class of 2007's Outstanding Graduates. She immediately joined Modine Manufacturing following graduation and she will pursue a master of business administration degree at UW-Parkside starting in September 2007.
