UWP student receives prestigious scholarship
UW-Parkside student receives financial execs scholarship
University of Wisconsin-Parkside student Laura Eide was recently named the recipient of a Roger Buchholz Memorial Scholarship. A senior business management major from New Berlin concentrating in accounting, Eide received the scholarship from Financial Executives International (FEI), the preeminent association for Chief Financial Officers and other senior finance executives.
Two outstanding students from the eight universities in FEI's Milwaukee chapter were nominated for scholarships. To receive consideration, each qualifying student submitted an application, transcripts, and an essay on their career objectives. A selection committee comprised of three non-academic members of the FEI Academic Relations Committee made the final selections.
"It was very difficult to arrive at the final decision with each of the applicants being deserving of recognition," said FEI's John Couper. "We...selected four outstanding students to be this year's award recipients."
Eide was nominated for the scholarship by a faculty committee from the UW-Parkside School of Business and Technology. She joined students from UW-Milwaukee and UW-Whitewater as scholarships recipients.
"We are proud to have a UW-Parkside student honored by FEI," said UW-Parkside School of Business and Technology Dean Fred Ebeid. "Laura is an outstanding student and a wonderful choice for this prestigious scholarship."
UW-Parkside Finance Professor David Wright chaired the university faculty committee that nominated Edie for the scholarship. Dr. Wright and Dean Ebeid were in attendance when Eide received the scholarship during a ceremony held at Milwaukee's Miller Park.
