Jay Sounderpandian Memorial Program Sept. 25
The campus honors our late friend and colleague Professor Jayavel Sounderpandian during a special campus memorial program Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at 4 p.m. in the Communication Arts Theatre. Jay, who served the university as a distinguished faculty member and in a number of administrative roles for 24 years, unexpectedly passed away in April of this year at the age of 58.The memorial program includes remarks by UW-Parkside Interim Provost Jerry Greenfield, School of Business and Technology Dean Fred Ebeid, and by Jay?s colleagues. A video presentation prepared by Jay's former students in Taiwan also is part of the program. Time will be allotted for anyone who wishes to speak about Jay. The program is free and open to everyone.
An MBA and Doctor
of Business Administration graduate of Kent State University
in Ohio, Jay
touched the lives and helped advance the careers of many UW-Parkside business
students. In addition, he regularly taught classes at universities around
the world. He authored two
books, including a widely used statistics textbook, and contributed numerous
articles to national and international journals. Jay served as Interim Dean of
the School of Business and Technology during the
2005-2006 academic year.
Earlier this year, the university presented Jay's wife, Latha, and their family with its Faculty Distinguished Service Award. He also received the UW-Parkside Excellence in Research and Creative Activity Award in 2000.
