Chicago group awards internship to UW-P student

UW-Parkside student receives spring 2008 TMAC internship

University of Wisconsin-Parkside student Tracy Scholz of Kenosha was recently selected by the Treasury Management Association of Chicago (TMAC) for its spring 2008 paid internship. An honor student majoring in business with concentrations in finance and accounting, Scholz was selected by the financial professionals' organization from a strong group of candidates.

Scholz is the third UW-Parkside student in three semesters to be selected for the $2,500 scholarship which Marketing Professor Michael T. Manion points to as a source of pride for the university.

"This is a continued acknowledgement as to the excellence of our business students," Manion said. "It's great that our students are recognized by the top financial professionals in the Chicago area with this scholarship."

Prior to joining UW-Parkside, Manion worked in the heart of Chicago's LaSalle Street financial district for more than two decades.

While expressing excitement over receiving the scholarship and saying the help with paying for school is much appreciated, Scholz said the TMAC internship is exciting because it moves her closer to her career goals.

"I'm going to graduate this May," Scholz said, "and one of the things I'm hoping to do is find permanent employment in the financial district of Chicago."

Scholz joins two other graduating UW-Parkside seniors, Milena Nikodijevic and Lee Anne Moore, as recent TMAC recipients. Manion said they will represent the university and will be honored at an awards luncheon during TMAC's Windy City Summit in May.

UW-Parkside School of Business and Technology Dean Fred Ebeid thanked TMAC for, "supporting our mission to educate students and provide them with real-life work experiences that will launch their business careers."
