‘Ranger Track’ transfer agreement signed May 12

Officials from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) will sign a transfer agreement between the two institutions during a ceremony Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Kenosha campus. The "Ranger Track" agreement guaranteeing MATC students admission to UW-Parkside and its School of Business and Technology will be signed at noon in the Poplar Room of the Student Center located at 900 Wood Rd.

Under the agreement, students who enroll and complete MATC's Liberal Arts and Science Associate Degree Program would receive admission when they apply as transfer students. MATC students must also meet specified levels of academic achievement.

"Of course, MATC students who don't participate in this program can still apply at UW-Parkside, but Ranger Track students gain maximum flexibility because the courses they complete at MATC will satisfy our core requirements," said Fred Ebeid, Dean of the UW-Parkside School of Business and Technology. "By achieving the specified grade point average, students will be well positioned to gain admission to most UW-Parkside programs and majors, even the most competitive ones."

Ebeid went on to say the agreement creates an opportunity to increase the number of baccalaureate degree holders in southeast Wisconsin.

During the ceremony, UW-Parkside Interim Chancellor Dr. Lane Earns and MATC's Interim Provost Dr. Evonne Carter will sign the pact. Under the agreement, UW-Parkside will accept a maximum of 72 credits from MATC's accredited college-parallel liberal arts program. Students holding an MATC Associate of Science or Art degree with a minimum of 45 transferable credits will be considered to have completed UW-Parkside's math and English competency and general education requirements (foreign language and ethnic diversity requirements must be completed).
