They Came, They Programmed, They Conquered
UW-Parkside student computer team wins programming title
A three-student team from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside recently traveled to Eau Claire to compete in the Midwest Instructional Computing Symposium's Programming Contest. The April 8 competition attracted more than two dozen teams and when all the coding was done, the UW-Parkside team took first place.
"I am very pleased to say that our programming team, made up of Computer Science students Bob Zurad, Peter Joachim and Josh Odom, took first place," said Computer Science Professor Stuart Hansen. "They solved three of the five problems posed. Only one other team solved three, and our team did it in less cumulative time, to win on the tiebreaker."
Hansen said 28 teams took part in the contest, representing schools from five different states. He added, "It's a credit to our students and the quality of education they receive here that they did so well."
The contest was held at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus.
