Concentration in Accounting

The Accounting concentration is designed for business students who wish to prepare, analyze and verify financial documents. The accounting specific courses provide students with a solid knowledge base and the strong quantitative skills necessary for a successful career in the Accounting profession.

What is Accounting?
Often described as "the language of business," accounting is the effective management of financial affairs of a business entity. There are three main fields of accounting:

Each of these fields requires that the student has learned precise skills in order to be successful; and these skills are continually emphasized through both course material and internships/externships taught by our outstanding faculty.

Career Opportunities in Accounting
The dynamic field of accounting provides students with various job opportunities within the field.

Academic Requirements of Accounting Concentration
The concentration consists of 24 credits beyond the business fundamental and core courses required by all business majors.

Accreditation
The UW-Parkside College of Business, Economics, and Computing is an AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited business school as well as the only AACSB International accredited business program based in Kenosha, Racine, and Lake (IL) counties.
