The Accounting concentration is designed for business students who wish to prepare, analyze and verify financial documents. The accounting specific courses provide students with a solid knowledge base and the strong quantitative skills necessary for a successful career in the Accounting profession.

What is Accounting?
Often described as "the language of business," accounting is the effective management of financial affairs of a business entity. There are three main fields of accounting:

• Public
• Private
• Governmental

Each of these fields requires that the student has learned precise skills in order to be successful; and these skills are continually emphasized through both course material and internships/externships taught by our outstanding faculty.

• Develop communication, presentation, interpersonal and technical skills
• Understand ethics of business
• Prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements
• Understand accounting procedures and policies for assets, liabilities, owner's equity, pensions, leases and taxes
• Analyze product costing, pricing, capital budgeting, profit planning, performance reporting and variance analysis
• Apply accounting principles and procedures to business combinations, foreign operations and transactions, governmental and non-profit organizations
• Plan, design and examine manual and computer based accounting information systems, including internal control requirements

Academic Requirements of Accounting Concentration
The concentration consists of 24 credits beyond the business fundamental and core courses required by all business majors.
