GBSAA Meeting Minutes from 10-29-09

I. Call to Order

Meeting was called to order at Thursday, October 29th at 7:30 PM in Molinaro 323 by President Mark Totts. There were 34 members and 1 advisor (Dr. Michael T. Manion) present. Introductions were made of current officers.

 

II. Review of Prior Minutes & Treasurer’s Report

  1. Approval of Minutes-

Minutes from 10-15-08 were read by Membership & Communications Director Danielle Waterworth. Motion to approve by Maureen Montemurro. 2nd by Tracy Sunday.

  1. Approval of Treasurer’s Report-

Treasurer’s report was submitted by President Mark Totts. An ending balance of $627.36 was reported. Motion to approve by Elvin Turner. 2nd by Melissa Stein.

 

III. Old Business

  1. GBSAA Background Information-

President Mark Totts revisited the GBSAA’s Mission, Vision, and the organization’s three goals: Recruiting, Representing, & Raising.

  1. 2009 Strategic Accomplishments –

Vice-President Chris Sorenson discussed the following accomplishments the GBSAA executive board was able to accomplish:

    1. Establish a $500 Savings-Oriented Account
    2. Hold Open Forums and Recruiting Sessions
    3. Networking/Fundraising Events
    4. Add 45 members to GBSAA email list
    5. Recruit active committee members
  1. Networking Report  -

Networking Executive Officer Tracy Sunday reported on the GBSAA’s social events for the year. These included the 1st Annual Wine Tasting in November 2008, the Friday the 13th Social Outing in February 2009, and the Milwaukee Brewers game in August 2009.

Tracy also informed members to watch for information on the 2nd Annual Wine Tasting Event to be held in January 2010.

 

IV. New Business

  1. Election of Officers-

a.   President Mark Totts reviewed the organizational chart and explained that   while the President office was a 2-year position, we would be electing all     other officers.

    1. Nominations for Vice-President- Chris Sorenson. Motion to close nominations and white ballot- Jose Ortiz. Second- Melissa Stein. Motion Passed. Chris Sorenson elected Vice-President.
    1. Nominations for Membership & Communications Director- Danielle Waterworth. Motion to close nominations and white ballot- Maureen Montemurro. Second- Chris Jotka. Motion Passed. Danielle Waterworth elected Membership & Communications Director
    1. Nominations for Financial Advisor- Danielle Waterworth nominated Maureen Montemurro and she accepted. Motion to close nominations and white ballot- John Paul Surdo. Second-Ion Gira. Motion Passed. Maureen Montemurro elected Financial Advisor.
    1. Nominations for Networking Executive Officer- Tracy Sunday. Motion to close nominations and white ballot- Elvin Turner. Second- Theo McIntyre. Motion Passed. Tracy Sunday elected Networking Executive Officer.
    2. Nominations for Student Relations/Recruiting Executive Officer- Melissa Stein & Sabha Museteif. Vote Held. Melissa Stein elected Student Relations/Recruiting Executive Officer
    3. Nominations for Fundraising Executive Officer- John Paul Surdo. Motion to close nominations and white ballot- Elvin Turner. Second- Jose Ortiz. Motion Passed. John Paul Surdo elected Fundraising Executive Officer
    1. Nominations for Webmaster- James Ruffalo. Motion to close nominations and white ballot-Elvin Turner. Second- Jamie Rook. Motion Passed. James Ruffalo named Webmaster.
    2. Other discussion of committee members- Those interested in being on any of the 3 committees or serving as company MBA representatives were encouraged to discuss the matter with the new executive officers after the meeting.
  1. Linked-In & Email Addresses-
    1. Membership & Communications Director Danielle Waterworth brought up the Linked-In GBSAA Site. Members were encouraged to join the group.
    2. A sheet was passed around to collect the names and email addresses of members not currently on our email list.
