The MBA Program
The nationally accredited Master of Business Administration (MBA) program
offered by the School of Business and Technology is designed to develop
general management competence and to prepare candidates for successful
careers in administrative and policy-making positions. The program addresses
the needs of mature students who have the educational background, experience
and intellectual discipline essential to graduate-level study. The program
may be completed in two-and-one-half to five years of part-time study. Courses
are offered in the evenings, Monday through Thursday, or online.
Goals
The goal of the MBA program is to provide a graduate education that enhances the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to assume administrative responsibilities creatively and effectively. The program presumes that a manager must know how to obtain and evaluate relevant information, approach tasks logically and systematically, analyze problems, arrive at reasonable generalizations and act to achieve concrete results. The specific focus of the program is to provide an emphasis on broad concepts and analytical tools rather than on descriptive information and techniques. The program seeks to prepare business professionals who will lead their organizations well into the 21st century. It includes examination of the impact of both domestic and global environments on firms' operations.
Degree Requirements
The MBA program consists of three components: foundation courses, core courses and electives. Prerequisites in fundamental business skills must be met through either examination or course work. In addition, eight required graduate-level courses compose the core of the MBA program. A minimum of 16 credits of electives must be completed.
Graduation
To earn the MBA degree from the School of Business and Technology at UW-Parkside, a student must:
- Complete at least 32 graduate credits, of which no more than 12 may be transferred from another institution.
- Earn an overall grade point average of 3.0 for all graduate work taken at UW-Parkside that is applicable to the degree program.
- Satisfy all requirements of the graduate degree program.
Students who earn a cumulative grade point average for all graduate-level courses (including foundation courses) of a 3.83 will graduate with distinction.
To start the graduation process, a letter of intent for graduation must be submitted to the Associate Dean during the semester prior to the expected graduation. This letter needs to state what semester the student expects to graduate, what courses are in progress, and what courses need to be completed.
Time Limitation
A student is allowed seven years to complete the degree, beginning with the semester in which the student completed the first course as a UW-Parkside degree-seeking graduate student. Students who apply for, and receive an extension of time through the Office of Graduate Programs, are waived from this requirement.
Transfer Policies
The MBA program at UW-Parkside may accept a maximum of 12 degree credits earned at another AACSB International accredited MBA program. Under no circumstances will a course be accepted if the grade earned was less than B. The Associate Dean in the School of Business & Technology must approve all transfer work in advance.

The grading scale for graduate courses is as follows:

Graduate students who are on academic probation will be academically dismissed from the University under the following conditions:

- Any of the provisions above notwithstanding, students whose cumulative grade point average falls below 2.00 will be dropped from the University. This provision does not require that students be on probation initially and does apply to students admitted on probation.
Students who have been academically dismissed may not be re-admitted for one year.

LEAVE STATUS
Students who do not complete all graduate courses within a 12-month period will be dropped from the MBA program unless they apply for, and are granted, a leave of absence. Dropped students may apply for re-admission to the MBA program.
