Minor in Business Management
Getting a job will involve going to work for an organization. No matter what your chosen profession may be or what type of organization you may choose (a major corporation, a small business, a not-for-profit organization, an educational institution, a government agency), you will be working in a business. With a minor in Business Management, you will learn the language of business and be equipped to better understand how the organization operates. In addition you will have skills to apply to your work that most employers highly value, and you will be able to make more of an impact faster with your extra business knowledge.
On the other hand, you may decide graduate school is for you. If not immediately after graduation, you may feel the need for further education as you advance in your career. In particular, as you move up in an organization, it is often useful to demonstrate your business knowledge, regardless of your particular area of expertise. This is especially true as you gain responsibility for managing people and money. The minor in Business Management lays the groundwork for graduate education in business. To illustrate, completion of the business minor fulfills the MBA foundation courses for students who are planning on pursuing an MBA at UW-Parkside.
