Located on the eastern portion of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside campus, the Child Care Center & Preschool offers quality child care for UW-Parkside students, staff/faculty, and the surrounding community. Serving children ages 4 weeks through 5 years, the Center prides itself in having a caring and nurturing environment that incorporates a child-centered educational curriculum. Through play and structured lessons, children attending the UW-P Child Care Center & Preschool engage in developmentally appropriate learning and skill building activities that prepare them for a successful transition to Kindergarten. After 40 years of providing convenient, high-quality child care and preschool options for University of Wisconsin-Parkside students, faculty and staff, the UW-Parkside Child Care Center and Preschool will close effective Friday, June 14, 2013. During the past decade, the availability of child care and preschool options located near the campus has increased significantly. Over the long term, other providers will be better positioned to deliver the sustainable growth, including staff development and financial resources, that will be required to meet the needs of parents and children in southeastern Wisconsin. UW-Parkside Human Resources will work with current staff to develop a transition plan so that each employee is able to continually focus on the needs of the children. The university has asked other child care centers and preschools in the area for information to share with current UW-Parkside Child Care Center and Preschool parents. |
