Center History

With a history dating back over thirty years, the Child Care Center prides itself on being an integral part of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the community.

The UW-Parkside Child Care Center began as a privately-owned day care center located in the Parkside Baptist Church on Highway E.  When the University purchased the operation, it moved to the Regional Staff Development Center.

As years passed, the Child Care Center outgrew the space in the Regional Staff Development Center and was re-located to what had been the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Student Union (its current location).  Initially, the building was shared with a food co-op.  In the early ‘80s, the food co-op vacated it’s portion of the building.  The Center then expanded and used the additional space to develop an infant and toddler program.  Over the years, the center has continued to improve the building and refine the program to better meet the needs of the children served.

Licensed by the state of Wisconsin since 1972, the Child Care Center continues to provide a quality program for children ages 4 weeks through 5 years of age.
