DAY TRIPS
Bev Friedrich 633-2304 or bevfried@aol.com
Martha Krimmer, 554-8122 or mmkrimmer@yahoo.com
Our day trips are becoming increasingly popular. That has meant closing registrations early on the last 2 trips of this year because the bus was filled. When planning trips for next year we will discuss possibilities such as repeating trips or offering more bus trips. If you have any suggestions for new trips or ones you would like repeated, please send these suggestions in writing to one of the above addresses.
The next two Milwaukee Symphony trips are on November 6, 2009 and February 12, 2010. You can add your name to a Single Ticket list which we use when a season ticket holder needs to cancel.
Our committee will meet in January to start 2010 planning. We always welcome new members
Wen signing up for a day trip or a class, please fill out the registration form completely. We will send you a reminder of the trip by using the information on the bottom line of this form, which asks for either an e-mail address or a phone number. The Emergency Contact and phone number is also very important. We carry this information with us on all trips, and need to have it completed by everyone. Please call if you have questions about this.
NEW REGISTRATION FORM INFORMATION: Note that we now need complete information on guests who attend a day trip. A duplicate registration form for your guest will be on the REVERSE SIDE. Emergency contact information on both you and your guest is also needed. Please fill out both forms completely when you register. We will confirm your registration within 10 days of the trip, by e-mail or phone as indicated on the flyer.

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP COMMITTEE
Linda Burch, lburch@wi.rr.com
or Jim Burch, 654-6714 (please contact Jim only if you don’t have email)
We welcomed a large and wonderful group of new international students from China, Ethiopia, South Africa, Korea, Germany, etc. The committee donated food for “Welcome Baskets” for new students for the weekend before school started, participated in their orientation, etc. Thanks to all the committee members who picked up students at the airport, let them stay with you overnight the first night, took them shopping or sightseeing, etc. You did them an invaluable service which they will never forget.
There are many students, and we can always use more people, so contact us if you are interested in joining the group. Please know that members are involved only as much as they want to be—there are no set duties or time requirements. A friendly and open spirit and the desire to promote international goodwill are the only requirements. However, your best connection with students is when you actually do things with them, have them over for dinner, take them shopping, etc.
The annual picnic was on Saturday, September 12th, at Petrifying Springs. Members prepared food for students and helped organize games. 90 attended.
Fall Semester - Friendship Hours will be meetings at 10:30 in Tallent Hall, followed by the PIC Friendship Hour at noon in the Oak Room in the Student Center. These are the dates for the fall semester: November 11 and December 9. At the Friendship Hour we meet with the members of the Parkside International Club and have a light lunch.
Contact Linda Burch, Chair, for more information: lburch@wi.rr.com. If you do not have email (preferred) please contact Jim Burch at 654-6714 between 7pm and 9pm

An Invitation to New Members of ALL:
On Monday, Nov. 16th, 2009 at 12 noon in the Orchard Room at Tallent Hall, the Membership Services Committee invites new members and any interested members to come and hear about the ALL experience and opportunities that exist through membership.
Bring a brown bag lunch and we will provide the coffee, kringle and time to meet and greet other members and officers.
After lunch and during desert, Marion and Marilyn, Co-chairs of the Membership Services Committee, with the help of other board members, will attempt to answer your questions and introduce you to the lecture series, classes, focus groups, book discussion groups, social events and committee activity that fill the ALL calendar. You can investigate all levels of participation, including becoming a member of a committee.
Please call us with your questions and an RSVP if you plan to join us for this brown bag luncheon in Tallent Hall on Nov. 16th - before the lecture in the Student Center Cinema. Looking forward to seeing you.
