ART4ALL

Meg Andrietsch  886-5533  megwi@aol.com

ART4ALL continues to meet on Friday afternoons at Tallent Hall.  At our meetings, we watch videos about artists or art periods or art in a specific country.  We’re currently studying the impressionists.  When we’re done with the video, we discuss what we’ve seen, and we share art books and talk about the paintings, the artists, the politics of the time, and the lifestyles of the artists.

Join us.  The schedule varies, although we usually meet on the 3rd Friday of the month.  We are scheduled to meet on Nov. 20, Dec. 18 and Jan. 15.

Please let Meg Andrietsch know that you’ll be attending.  She can be reached at megwi@aol.com

OVER-THE-HILL HIKERS

Contact: Wren Ide at WIDE4@wi.rr.com   or 262 694-1946

The Over-The-Hill Hikers completed another successful season of hikes the end of October. Hiking weekly, we visited sites in Racine County, Kenosha County, Walworth County and northern Illinois. Hikes are planned and led by members. Some of the hikes we enjoyed this season included two sections of our hike around Lake Geneva, lakeshore hikes in both Racine and Kenosha, the Riverwalk in Burlington, Independence Grove near Libertyville, IL, historic Zion, IL and the Illinois Beach State Park, the Kenosha Sand Dunes and many other parks and woods. We also enjoyed guided tour hikes at historic Mound Cemetery in Racine, Bowen Park in Waukegan and Volo Bog. Several of us had fun exploring and walking through the Chicago Botanic Gardens.

We had an interesting mix of traditional walks in the woods as well as educational opportunities to learn something new along with our walks. All hikes end with going to lunch or a coffeeshop for continued camaraderie. Think about joining us when we resume our hikes in April 2010. This is a great way to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. It is also a good way for new members to get to know other ALL members.

If you are not on the email list or mail list for hikes, use the contact information above. Most hikes are not difficult so there just might be something for everyone!

Hope to see you soon!

ALL FOR FUN SINGERS

Marialyce Kornkven at jkornkven@wi.rr.com or 654-6840

Marge Miller at margemiller1234@sbcglobal.net  or 554-1613

Not ALL of us are church choir rejects (just most), but we do sound pretty good.  So far we have about 60 songs in our repertoire – old popular songs and show tunes.  Each month we take a few new requests, so we really keep Marialyce, our very talented pianist, on her fingertips finding new music and preparing for us.

If you’d like to join us, just call or send an email.  We meet the 3rd Thursday of the month, so November 19 and December 17 are our next singalongs from 1-2:00 pm in St. Catherine Commons across 7th Avenue from the Kenosha bandshell on the lakefront.

Close to 20 showed up in October, half ALL members and half from St. Catherine residents or from the community.  COME CROON WITH US.

2010 Great Decisions needs those who are interested to contact Sara Neubauer, 5725 Short Road, Racine, WI 53402, or 262-770-3006 or saraneub@earthllink.net so she can plan on how many booklets to order.  The topics have not yet been chosen.  We will have one get-organized meeting in January where she will pass out the booklets, and then four Wednesdays in February and three through March 24th, 9:30-noon.

Much of your growth as a person will come through hardship and challenges.  Embrace those and know you will be better, stronger and wiser because of them.
