Women in Technology

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Time: The conference check-in will be from 7:45-8:15 am, in the Molinaro Atrium.  The conference will end at 2:00 pm.

Location: UW-Parkside

Fee: $15.00

Description:  Each year we bring seventh grade girls to campus to interact with women employed in technology-related careers, as well as allow them to experience technology laboratories with faculty and staff at the university.  We are planning presentations in the areas of Biotechnology, Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Arts and Software Development.

As the conference capacity is 50 participants, we have limited the enrollment from each school to four seventh grade girls. We hope that the teacher or another adult will consider attending the conference as well.  A separate program for the adults has been created which not only “mirrors” the girls’ lab experience, but also discusses ways to support them in their academic success.

When you have collected all the forms (a school registration form, a parent letter and a participant permission slip) please mail them back to us with payment to CCP-UW-Parkside; 900 Wood Rd, P.O. Box 2000; Kenosha, WI  53141All registrations forms must be received by Friday, October 15, 2009. Once we receive this information we will send confirmation letters to the homes of the selected participants and also a confirmation letter to the school contact.
