The Adventures in LifelongLearning,ALL, an institute of learning in retirement, is designed for persons looking for a friendly environment, intellectual stimulation and interactive opportunities.ALL is committed to reaching out to older learners and providing them with educational, creative, and social opportunities.
ALL members enjoy twice-monthly free lectures and programs on the UW-Parkside campus. These cover a wide variety of subjects: current events, health, history, travel, the arts, etc. Our speakers are experts in their fields and welcome questions from the audience.
For a small fee, classes are provided for in-depth learning. Offerings vary widely: Know Your Newspaper , Introduction to Film , American History, and What is New in Science . Music and theatre classes may include attending a performance. A Week of Learning , held yearly, focuses on one topic, for example, Humor Matters , Structures and Cities, All About Music , and Many Ways to Tell a Story .
Focus groups are formed by members who have common interests. Ongoing groups explore gardening, enjoy hiking, play bridge, and discuss art and books. Members are encouraged to form additional groups.
Day trips add another dimension and fun to learning. Members visit museums and historical sites, see plays, enjoy symphonies, and take part in ethnic dining experiences. Fees are determined on a cost basis.
