Training Quality Mentors

March 20, 2009

9:00 - 2:30 pm

Fee: $35.00 (Early Registration by January 16th: $25.00)

Learn strategies for facilitating a quality mentor training. Come prepared to share your stories & experience with other mentoring professionals as you design a training that will enforce your organizational & program values, control risk and teach the knowledge, skills & attitudes necessary for your volunteers to develop highly effective and deeply committed mentoring relationships. Includes key topics to cover in any training for new mentors and tips for teaching adult learners. All participants will leave with a valuable training guide, including suggested agendas, instructions for activities to use during mentor training and other resources.

April Riordan joined the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota in June of 2006 and has the responsibility of overseeing and managing the Partnership’s Training Institute resources, which includes developing new curricula to assist mentors and others with preventing risky behaviors in young people, and training mentoring program providers throughout the state about mentoring program management and operations. Riordan is also responsible for building partnerships with community organizations involved in adult-youth mentoring in order to enhance opportunities for adults to connect with youth in their communities. Riordan’s background includes working with youth and camping programs at the St. Paul Jewish Community Center (JCC), including the development of an award-winning workplace youth mentoring program.

This event is Sponsored by the Kenosha Area Business Alliance , Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine/Kenosha Inc and the Lighted School House Program
