All CS accounts have an email account which is different from the regular campus one. The CS email address is login@cs.uwp.edu where login is your CS user name.

How do I read my Computer Science email?

Computer Science email may be viewed through a program called pine from any of the lab computers. To use pine, open a terminal window and type pine, then hit enter, enter to choose your INBOX. Please check it regularly or set a forward to an account you check regularly.

To forward your email, you will need to use an editor such as gedit or vi to create a file with the name .forward (note the dot) containing a single line with the email address you prefer to use. This file must be at the root level of your CS account.

How is my email protected from spam and viruses?

Computer Science email, like most email systems in the world, are scanned for viruses and any email(s) containing them are discarded. Spam is also scanned for, and the worst of it is discarded, however, some Spam does get through. Be aware all email with attachments containing executable extensions (.exe) will also be discarded. This means, you will not be able to mail or receive any .exe files from the CS email system.
