The University of Wisconsin-Parkside VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) project, started in August 2012, places VISTA members in the Racine and Kenosha area. The program helps to build capacity and sustain collaboration among community nonprofit and government organizations to empower low income individuals and families by addressing economic development, job creation, financial education, and asset building. The Center for Community Partnership at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside partnered with the City of Racine-Mayor's Office of Strategic Partnerships and the Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency (RKCAA) in the development and implementation of this project.
Lead by Sabrina Kliman, the work of the UW-Parkside 2013-2014 VISTA cohort will build and strengthen systems, expand and enhance programming, and create an infrastructure that allows for the sustainability of effective programs and partnerships.
