Testing Accommodations

All DS students must provide documentation to DS that supports the need for testing accommodations. Accommodations may include: extended testing time (50% to 100%), use of a reader, scribe, adapted equipment, interpreter, or alternative print format, and distraction-reduced environment.

If necessary, ask instructor during the beginning of class that a note taker is needed and refer peer note taker to DS for application process i.e., responsibilities and compensation.

Secure note-taking paper and review one or two sets of notes with instructor to ensure that notes are complete. Report any problems immediately to DS.

Exchange phone number, email address, etc. with note-taker to maintain communication and to facilitate the receipt of supplemental notes.

Note: Accommodations for other requests (interpreting, real-time captioning, etc.) will be handled on an individual basis as they are received.

Alternative Print Formats and Recorded Textbooks for Students with Disabilities Accomodations

All DS students must provide documentation to DS that supports the need for alternative print or recorded textbooks. Eligible students can access adaptive equipment such as the text-reader and the CCTV for enlarging print in the library.

Bring a course syllabus to DS or student should have the title, author, and the edition of the text(s), so DS can see if the text is available from RFB&D. If text is not available from RFB&D, DS will have text read by a volunteer or paid peer.

 

Note: readings are provided commensurate with the class reading list or syllabus until RFB&D recordings arrive or if RFB&D does not have the text available on tape. Please expect a two-week turnaround in order to receive tapes from DS or RFB&D.
