First Year Experience Alternative Spring Break

March 23-31

Do something different for spring break and join your classmates on a trip that will connect you to your classmates, allow you to explore another area of the United States, and apply your experience to your education goals.

Alternative Spring Break, or ASB, is an opportunity for students to use their week off in the spring semester to volunteer in a community in need. ASB is a service endeavor at most Universities in the United States.

Students work together on service projects during the day and have free time or group activities at night. They stay in housing options provided by the local community, such as churches, community centers or hostels. Meals and transportation are included in the cost.

Site locations are determined in late fall along with the cost to attend. If you are interested in this opportunity please fill out the form and information will be sent to your UW-Parkside email when the site location is determined.

First Year Student Involvement Award

This award is designed to recognize the early accomplishments of first year students at UW-Parkside. Any undergraduate, first year student (24 credits and under)is eligible for this awards. This award recognizes those students who have begun to develop their leadership skills and who have shown potential for great leadership at UW-Parkside through their engagement in a recognized student organization. Students can be nominated for this award through the Leadership Awards at the Student Activities website in the spring.

Workshops

Through out the school year FYE will suggest and/or provide workshops to first year students. Workshops in the past have included time management, managing a budget, study skills, campus involvement, resume writing, and managing stress.
